"The trappings of death frighten us more than death itself" (Francis Bacon). But the photographs of dead birds and other small animals found by the artist in the forests of Michigan, despite their curious character, are not frightening in that sense. Is there beauty in death? D. Travis, at least, discerns a "real tenderness in the care she displays in her presentation of creatures once full of life".
