Using a portable scanner as his camera, Victor Koen composes digital images that speak of the vanity of matter. Inspired by the vanitas still lifes of the 17th century, he follows his own aesthetic path, in which the elements of the older paintings are combined with features of our technological culture, "in order", as the photographer says, "to escalate the symbolic value of the image in the present".
