The exhibition titled "Diaries" is based on Yiorgos Vafiadakis photographic Archive, an archive of a very important amateur photographer of the mid-war, which belongs to E.L.I.A. The main body of his work is in a diary form. A bourgeois, member of the touring club since 1924, he takes photographs of the lands he visits, but he is mainly taking photographs of his friends, his touring club companions, as well as himself. What makes his work very important, it is the way he takes photographs of these subjects, a way which is quite different form the conventional commemorative photography. The aesthetics, his humour, the sense of the image is being directed and the continuous commitment to the object, are the elements that lends a matter of peculiar character to his photographs.
